ON THE ATTACK BY UNKNOWN GUNMEN AT THE HOUSE OF EFCC CHAIRMAN IN ABUJA – By Monday Ameh

I wish to use this medium to condemn unequivocally the Tuesday attack by unknown gunmen at the house of the acting Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu in Abuja which left one policeman dead.

This is indeed a pointer to the fact that corruption is fighting back, but I urge Mr. Magu and staff of anti-graft agencies not to be deterred by the reprehensible antics of looters of our common patrimony and their shameless collaborators..

With this ugly development, l call on government to fortify security in and around Mr. Magu, offices and residential staff quarters of ICPC, EFCC, CCB and all anti-graft agencies across the country

I urge security agents to commence immediate investigation into this security breach with the aim of apprehending the gunmen and to bring them to justice as this will serve as deterrent to others

Finally, l call on government to grant staff of anti-graft agencies permission to carry firearms in view of the sensitive nature of their job.

God bless Nigeria!
