ON THE BARBARIC MODERN DAY SLAVERY GOING ON IN LIBYA – Monday Ameh

I wish to use this medium to condemn unequivocally the alleged modern day slavery going on in Libya where hundreds of Nigerians, African refugees and migrants passing to Europe are being bought and sold for as little as $400 in modern-day slave markets to be subjected to hard labour and sex object, this is to say the least very disheartening, reprehensible, dehumanizing, lugubrious and condemnable.

I call on federal government through the Foreign Affairs ministry, Nigerian Embassy in Libya and the National Assembly through its Foreign Affairs Committees to swing into action immediately in order to evacuate stranded Nigerians in the North African country back home.

The United Nations through the International Organization for Migration must take special interest on this dastardly act going on in Libya by nipping it in the bud with alacrity

I call on my fellow youths to look inwardly, a lot of opportunities abound in our country instead of taking this excruciating pain to travel abroad by all means through illegal routes, for not all that glitters are gold.

Government should put machinery in motion to rehabilitate them upon their eventual return to the country

Finally,  any Nigerians desirous of traveling abroad should endeavour to obtain all necessary genuine travel  documents.

Say no to modern day slavery

GOD BLESS NIGERIA!
